Let the Games Begin

On a day when we are volunteering to support staff at our local library with a game day, we are reminded of those video games of the past.

Do you remember "Pong", well it had to be called Video Tennis" in Britain because there  "Pong" means a bad smell. as in a real stink.

"Pong" was my first video game, in thos days, no cartridges to change games, the whole console was just one game with several variations. Ah! the fun, having to plug in a new console  from the television each time you wanted to play something else, or heaven forbid watch the TV.

Anyway this is the perfect shirt for the retro gamer or the really cool new gamer wanting to create a flashback.

Happy Accident: A train becomes a Tie

A few days ago I was working on a design for a tie.

I had an idea in mind, a tie for the train spotter, to go with my train spotting T-Shirts.

Well no matter what I did I couldn't seem to get  the tie to look right.

Accidently I toggled a special key to TILE the image and wham! this tie pattern appeared.

I was very happy, hours of work had failed and in an instant it all came right together.

What do you think?

Share or like to Facebook if you like this tie too.

How Long Does it Take Until You Make Any Money?

This question reminds me of "How long is a piece of string?"

If you join zazzle as a designer or an associate there is a minimum period after a sale is recorded until it clears and you are elligible to be paid.

Zazzle hold all payments for 30 days after the sale is recorded, this is just in case a buyer asks for a refund on a product.

After 30 days the payment clears and you are paid if you have reached the required level for payment.

As of this date you can opt for payment to your PayPal account. The minimum payment threshold for that is $50.

Or you may opt to be paid by check (cheque) this has a minimum threshold of $100.

Funds are sent out at the end of the month during which you reached the minimum payment threshold.

Things are also a little complicated in that you can earn cash in two ways:

1 Creating and selling your own products.

Or

2. Acting as an advertiser for other peoples products, in this role your receive a variable rate of commission for referrals.

Do you have any questions regarding this subject?

Please feel free to ask any questions in the comments area. I will do my best to answer questions within a day or two.

Labrador Desk Organizer

Do you ever find that you lose pens and pencils on your desk?

I know I do, zazzle have a nice desk organizer for all those little objects which disappear from your desk, probably to the floor to be swept away by the cleaner.

I added a portrait of Leif to the organizer and think it makes quite a striking object. What do you think?

Can I create an Item if I Can't Draw?

You may be asking yourself, Can I create items for sale on zazzle.com when I can't draw?

The answer is simple and short:  YES!

You definitely don't need to be able to draw to create any item for sale on zazzle.

First you don't need to have a picture on your item. Do you have a favorite phrase, slogan or quote from a book?

You can just use words, as long as the words are your own or are not from copyrighted material.

Copyrighted material would include a catchphrase from a television program or phrase from the lyrics of a song.

If the source is a common phrase in use generally it can be used without much fear of copyright.

You can also use your own photographs, definitely DO Not USE photographs found on the internet of celebrities, they will be copyrighted and you will eventually find yourself in trouble.

When I use my own photographs I upload them to my computer and then take them to the Paint program which came free with my software package from Microsoft.

With the picture uploaded in Paint I crop it as required, then using the sizing tool I  increase the size to about 400%.

Increasing the file size allows Paint to redefine the image and after this has occured I save the file under the name I will upload to zazzle.com.

I use the zazzle upload tool in the my account menu and upload the very large image.

The larger image can then be reduced onto items, rather than running the risk of a pixalated image being rejected by the zazzle image monitor software. When this happens you have a large red box appear warning you that an image has been magnified beyond reasonable tolerances. Very frustrating.

You can then use the product creator to manipulate your ideas into a finished product to post.

Linsartwork on Zazzle

A store which I have found to have some very beautiful items is Linsartwork.

I have chosen it as my store of the month for April 2014.

Linsartwork has some great watercolor paintings of various animnals, burds and insects.

Particularly striking was this beautiful portrait of a kingfisher, available on several items from cards to tote bags.

Take a look at items from the Linsartwork store by clicking on the image below.

NEW! Uncle Sam Table Placecard

At the end of 2012, I was inspired by the "Uncle Sam: military recruitment posters of the early to mid Twentieth century.

Following this inspiration I have come back to Uncle Sam several times.

Today I am releasing yet another Uncle Sam inspired product. The "Uncle Sam Table Place Name Card."

The card allows you guests to find their seat at a party, just add their name to the card and put it in the desired place.

The card is customizable, you may add  a printed name to the front of each card or write it in by hand after you receive the cards and when you know a guest list.

You may also print something on the back too. A photograph or a welcome message to your guests, it's up to you.

Roman Legion T-Shirt

History can be fun.

Today a happy  little bunch of Ancient Roman Legionaries made their way into town.

Veni, Vedi and Vici, have decided to go on a vacation, tired of all their coming, seeing and conquering. The happy bunch of Roman soldiers are as cute as can be and despite their look are very friendly.

Remember the Date Card

I love to create cards and I have had this one in mind for quite some time now.

An elephant is supposed by many to have a great memory, so why not send someone a card picturing an elephant whenyou want them to remember a date, whether it be a wedding, bridal or baby shower or a birthday.

The Elephant says it all, this is a date to remember!
